Sensei by Nobu

After spending a few hours at the archery and clay shooting range in Koele we headed down to visit the newly remodeled Sensei Four Seasons Resort. We had stayed at this location about ten years ago when it was the Lodge at Koele. The property has since been transformed from its hunting-lodge theme to a wellness retreat. The restaurant on property is called Sensei which is operated by Nobu.

Since it was a beautiful day we opted to sit outside. The entire restaurant has a great view of the well-manicured gardens and fish ponds, but outside is particularly relaxing with the cool mountain breeze.

Here is what we had for lunch on July 24, 2020:

Matcha Love (left) - Matcha green tea, coconut milk, agave | Black Orchid (right) - Black tea, black berries, elderflower, lemon

BLT with house made bacon, potato leek soup, and fruits

Whole Wheat Seafood Pasta - Shrimp, calamari, Sensei Farm tomato sauce

Monkfruit Cheesecake - Sable Breton crust, kuro goma paste, fresh strawberries, coulis

Tropical Vacherin - Vanilla and coconut sorbet, glazed mango, lime meringue

Although the flavors and preparation of each dish was above average, lunch still feel short a bit when taking the price point into consideration. Much like Nobu Lanai, there is a high premium to be paid here due to the location and fairly captive visitor audience on Lanai. That being said, I did enjoy the atmosphere of Sensei by Nobu. The conservatory space and the outdoor seating overlooking the ponds and gardens really does make for a relaxing dining atmosphere.
